GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Don’t let the kids' clutter drive you crazy. As my toddler gets older I find the stages of clutter constantly changing. The thing that doesn't change is how to clutter makes me feel- disorganized. While I could push all of his toys into his bedroom it's really more practical to let him play in the living room. So over time I've come up with a few ways to conceal the clutter.
Buy a ton of baskets to hide the toys. I like to pick "adult looking baskets". Think pottery barn or whatever your style is. Remember the baskets are there to help you feel like you're regaining control of your adult space so choose what you like!
Next start sorting. Our bins are separated and although they don't stay that way it helps your child and you at both play time and pick up time. I have one for stuffed animals, one for books and one for miscellaneous toys. Use tubs with lids for the small stuff like figurines and puzzle pieces. This is great because all of those little things get scattered so easy and a secure lid will solve a lot of your problems.
Remember- don’t pick up every time there’s a mess- you’ll go crazy. Have a pick up time at nap and again at bedtime so you can relax and enjoy a clean house and sleeping baby.
