Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - I recently was asked by one of our viewers, how do you know if someone is the right fit to watch your child?  It's a hard questions to answer.  Personally I find that I feel most comfortable knowing someone is well trained and it's someone I personally click with. I often think, if I can't be with Easton who is the person that will follow my rules when I'm not home and care for him the way I want them to. Always trust your gut. If something doesn't click or feel right- your mom instincts will let you know.

Here are 10 questions you should ask:

1. What training to you have? Are you first aide and CPR certified? How would he/she react if your child was choking or injured.

2. What is your past experience with children?

3. Do you have references?

4. What do you like best about babysitting?  Keep it open ended to see how they talk about working with children.

5. What style of babysitter are you?   Do you like to do outside activities or are you more into craft/art projects? Do you prefer to have a movie night with the kids or put on a play?   Gage his/her answers to see if the sitters interests and babysitting style mesh with your children.

6. Ask about bad habits like smoking or a track record for speeding tickets.  Then be sure to let them know the rules you have about those habits.

7. What is his/her availability?

8. Salary expectations?

9. Will you need transportation?

10. What type of situations do you think would warrant calling me?
