Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - Choosing the perfect baby name isn't easy. Everyone always has an opinion and you of course want everyone you know to think your baby and his/her name is simply perfect. The best way to choose a great name is to stick to some simple rules.
Rule 1: think about the initials or embarrassing nicknames that could come down the road.
Rule 2: if the family has a naming tradition but you're not on board consider using it for the middle name. Example: My grandpa's name is Edward. If "little Eddie" isn't quite what you were thinking make the name "Easton Edward".
Rule 3: gather name ideas and see their popularity in the Social Security Administration annual list .
Rule 4: have a list of 2-3 names you love and decide once you meet your baby.
There are also lots of popular apps and websites that can help inspire you. When I was pregnant I loved this website http://www.babynamewizard.com/ . There are some "free" aspects to it, but also some you have to suscribe to, though I found it worth the money. It let's you choose your overall preferences and then picks names that fit your criteria.
