Secrets to bundling baby for winter fun

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Now that old man winter has finally made his way to west Michigan you may be ready to get your little one out for an adventure in the freshly fallen snow.  Here are some basic tips for bundling your baby!

Baby Bundling Basics:

Don't forgot the essentials.   Most heat escapes from the head so putting on a warm hat that covers your baby's ears is very important.   You may also want to invest in a hat that has a chin strap helping to to keep it in place while baby plays.

Invest in a snowsuit and boots.  The key to staying warm is staying dry.   A good snowsuit and a warm pair of water resistant boots are a great place to start.

Consider a face mask.   Find a toddler face mask that is lightweight and that is long enough to cover the neck area that can often be exposed between a hat and jacket.

Avoid scarves.  Skip the scarves when it comes to your baby or toddler.  Though it may look adorable it can actually be a huge hazard for strangulation.

Remember the sunscreen.  Though it's winter in West Michigan and the sun doesn't shine much its harmful rays can still do damage to your baby's skin.   Slather on the SPF before you play outdoors this winter.
