Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - At DAWN Attorneys For Women , we try to find as many resources as possible to assist our divorce clients.    I found a new one recently that is aimed at women who are daughters of divorced parents that are struggling with creating healthy relationships and intimacy in their lives.

A 25 year study by Judith Wallerskin concluded that daughters are much more affected by their parent's divorce than sons.  They internalize their emotions and, being the 'good girls' our culture has taught them to be, do not deal with them at the time.  Wallerskin has dubbed this the Sleeper Syndrome.

Mother-daughter team Tracy Clifford and Tarry Gaspard  M.S.W.,have created a website ( www.MovingPastDivorce.com ) to help women, whose parents have divorced, deal with the emotions that are reawakened whenever they encounter love and intimacy and thus sabotage their attempt at healthy relationships.

They offer blogs, articles from leading authorities (and an opportunity to engage in one-on-one interaction for a fee).  While not endorsing the website, I felt it may be helpful to women who grew up in a divorced family.

If you grew up in a family of divorce and use this resource, let me know what you thought about it.  My parents were not divorced and so I would love to hear your thoughts.

Nothing herein constitutes a legal opinion.
