KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Kara Klomparens started figure skating at the age of 5. It was a basic skills figure skating class that her father signed her up for, thinking it would be a fun activity for the two of them to do together. Little did her father know, that she would get hooked on the sport.

Kara has gone on to compete in synchronized skating as well as ice dancing. Most recently, Kara competed in the U.S. Figure Skating Association's National Solo Dance Competition in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kara was one of ten skaters from West Michigan to compete and took 4th place in the competition.

Watch Kara's story in the video above.
