GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - In less than 10 weeks the street of downtown Grand Rapids will be filled with thousands of people participating in the Fifth Third River Bank Run . One of the groups that will be there on race day are the Fifth Third River Bank Run Road Warriors. The Road Warriors are a group of 10 individuals that were selected to run the 25K based on inspirational essays submitted to the race committee. Each member of the team was selected for different reasons, but all have one common goal, to finish the 25K.

One of the members is 39 year old Jake Noorman of Hastings. Jake had previously run two 5Ks, but was overweight and concerned about his health. Approaching 40, he wanted to get inĀ  better shape and make sure he's around for years to come for his wife and his children.

In addition to weekly training, part of the Fifth Third River Bank Run Road Warrior's responsibility is to raise money for a charity. Jake has been paired with Bethany Christian Services and is running for their One Family Campaign.

For more information on Jake and to follow his journey to the starting line on Saturday, May 11, visit his blog.
