GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The hours afterschool are some of the most critical for children. It's a time when many kids head home alone and are left by themselves to fill the time before their parents return from work. In an effort to give kids a positive, safe environment to hang out in, Boys and Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth offers daily programming Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Each weekday, kids ages 6-12 years old can head to one of the Boys and Girls Clubs locations for crafts, sports, games, homework space and a hot meal. Trained leaders are on staff to work with the kids and supervise all activities taking place. Every child, regardless of risk or need, is welcome to attend the club.
The club has a minimal membership fee of $5, but scholarships are available to those unable to pay. It's important to the Boys and Girls Clubs that all children have a place to go and no one will be turned away.
