GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - With LaughFest underway it's important to recognize the organization behind those yellow smiles around town. The two week festival of laughter is a fundraiser for Gilda's Club , an organization that promotes emotional health through laughs.
Gilda’s Club is a free cancer support community of children, adults, families and friends. Founded with love by cancer survivors, Gilda's Club offers emotional support resources for those battling cancer and their families.
One of the programs offered at Gilda's Club is grief support. Grieving the death of someone close to you is part of the cancer journey. That’s why grief support is an integral part of Gilda’s Club. The support groups offer a comfortable atmosphere to learn more about the grieving process and find support among others on their own grief journeys. All groups are facilitated by master level degreed professionals.
Groups available include:
Spouse: If you have experienced the death of a spouse or significant other.
Adult: For those adults who have had the death of a spouse or parent.
Family and Friends: If you have lost a friend or family member.
Parent: Meet with others who have experienced the death of a child.
Child Grief: Many children’s groups meet at the same time as the adult groups.
