GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - The Humane Society of West Michigan is no longer just a place to find a new pet. Today, the Humane Society of West Michigan has a variety of services that benefit both four-legged and two-legged friends throughout West Michigan. The organization is continuously adding new services to meet the needs of both animals and owners within our community.

One of the most important jobs of the Humane Society of West Michigan is to provide education programs which promote compassion, respect, responsibility and care for all animals. Some of the programs they offer include:

Spring Break and Summer Camps: Three to five day camps for kids ages 5-15 years that focus on animal interaction, crafts and activities.

Pet Adventure Clubs: These classes take place one Saturday a month. Topics range from dog training to being a responsible pet owner.

Toddler Tails: Toddlers ages 2-4 years old come in with their parents and make crafts, do activities and get to participate in animal encounters.

Humane education benefits animals by preventing cruelty and abuse and preventing pet overpopulation. For children and families the programs teaches compassion and responsibility and encourages service to others.
