In August I had the opportunity to travel with Bethany Christian Services to Chichicastenango, Guatemala. The purpose of our visit was to see the plight of families living in that city and to determine ways to help. Most families there live on less than $2 a day with an average annual income of less than $3,000 a year. With limited access to nutritional food, most children are malnourished. Children are required to wear shoes to school, many children don't have shoes so they simply can't attend. Without an education, their futures are greatly limited. I met dozens of families on my trip, most widows with several children. They invited us into their homes, told us their stories, their struggles and their dreams. This weekend on "Where You Live" we have the honor of sharing their stories with you. My photographer and editor John VanDoorne traveled with me and did a brilliant job of capturing images that tell a compelling story of strength and hope. You'll also discover how your family can directly impact a family in Chichicastenago. Join us for a very special edition of "Where You Live" from Guatemala Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on WOTV 4 Women and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on WOOD TV 8.
