GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Fifth Third Bank's Project SEARCH is a high school, transition-to-work program that offers a employment and educational opportunities for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.

The program serves as an alternative for students in their last year of high school. Three elective high school credits can be earned for successful completion of the Project SEARCH program. The program prepares young adults for their future by equipping them with the skills and experience needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.

Fifth Third Bank has successfully launched this program in several markets and here in Grand Rapids they have partnered with Hope Network and Grand Rapids Public Schools to bring Project SEARCH to fruition.

The program takes place at Fifth Third Bank’s Corporate Service Center and provides a combination of classroom instruction, career exploration and on-the-job training through work site rotations. Program participants experience total immersion in the workplace. Students are on site at the business each school day for a minimum of six hours for an entire academic year..

The end goal of the program is to land participants in a year round employment setting where they are working at least 20 hours each week and making minimum wage or higher.
