ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOTV) - Hope Academy of West Michigan is a tuition-free charter school that helps students and the families of students who are struggling to be successful in school. Whether your child is in a private or public school in West Michigan, Hope Academy offers hope for academic success through a positive learning experiences, career exploration, and counseling services to assist with life’s problems.
Due to the high cost, there isn't sufficient funding for the school to purchase a leveled reading program. Students at Grand Valley State University have organized a fundraising event to raise a greater awareness of Hope Academy and to help fund a leveled reading program. Stampede to Read is a 5k walk/run that is a fundraiser raising money to purchase and implement a leveled reading program for Hope Academy students.
On Saturday, March 23 kids and adults are asked to come out and walk or run. Cost is $25 per person and includes a t-shirt, medals and trophies as well as door prizes. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. at the Cook Carillon Clock Tower on the Allendale Campus of Grand Valley State University. The race kicks off at 9 a.m.
