This Friday and Saturday is the first annual Living Well Show, coming to DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. This two day expo will be filled with health and wellness information booths, interactive workshops, demonstrations, samples and valuable information to help you live a healthier, happier life.
This event is sponsored by Priority Health, who will be launching ShapeMichigan at the expo. ShapeMichigan is an initiative uniting business leaders, health care providers, educators, students and families in an effort to improve the health of West Michigan. The goal is to creating awareness and finding real-life solutions to Michigan's obesity crisis.
ShapeMichigan is taking place on January 11, 2013 from 8am-Noon. Business, church and community leaders, school administrators and legislators are invited to attend a morning session presented free of charge, featuring a special screening of the HBO documentary, The Weight of the Nation, followed by a panel discussion and breakout sessions focused on improving the health of our community.
All educators that attend the Childhood and Obesity panel on Friday will be eligible to win a $500 prize package for their schools from the Action for Healthy Kids. The lucky educators (drawn randomly from the names of all panel attendees) will work directly with Action for Healthy Kids to customize a package for their school that supports a healthier school environment with an emphasis on nutrition and physical activity. The goal is to serve each individual school’s needs.
