ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Emma Dryden is a sophomore at Zeeland East High School. Her family recently adopted two boys from Ghana, Africa and Emma had the opportunity to go and bring them home. While she was in Ghana she was struck by the extreme poverty and hunger she witnessed. It became her mission to help feed starving kids in Africa.
Upon returning home, Emma created "1 Shirt, 1 Child, 1 Month," a campaign to combat childhood hunger in Africa. Emma is challenging her fellow students and members of her community to donate to children in need. She has created t-shirts that she is selling for $45. For the $45 donation you are able to feed a hungry orphan for one month.
