BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOTV) - Now your little explorers can head outside and discover the wonders of the zoo with a program being offered at Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. The Knee High Naturalist program, allows both children and their parents to learn about the natural world through hands-on education.

Each two hour program includes a short animal presentation, biofacts, games and activities and outdoor time. Each session will aid in fostering a year-round awareness of the wonders of nature that are all around us.

The program runs on Wednesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-11a.m. through the month of April. The class is two hours and costs $10 for one child (1-5 years old) and one adult (18 years and up). Extra adults are $5 and extra children are $7. Upcoming topics include:

March 27 and 28, 2013
Amphibians and Reptiles - learn all about native amphibians and reptiles.

April 3 and 4, 2013
Animal Care & Enrichment - learn how zookeepers take care of the animals and what they do to enrich their lives.

April 10 and 11, 2013
Get in Touch with Trees – children will explore trees and their parts by using the sense of touch.

April 17 and 18
Earth Day - learn about the Earth and ways you can protect the planet as we celebrate Earth Day.
