Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - Celebration on the Grand runs all weekend long, and there’s something for everyone to experience downtown. The annual festival celebrates the great food, entertainment, and diversity that the great city offers. This year’s festivities kick off on Friday, September 7, 2012 and last through Saturday, September 8, 2012.

Travel downtown to tickle your taste buds at the "Taste of Downtown". There will be great food for every palate, as Grand Rapids’ restaurants whip up their favorite signature plates.  While you’re out, grab a cold beverage at the beer tent and sit back to enjoy good old fashioned blues. On Friday night, the Jimmy Stagger Band will steal the Rosa Parks stage with the sultry sounds of southern blues.

Do you remember the days at the skating rinks? Rosa Parks Circle will be transformed into a large outdoor roller-skating rink, but no need to worry. If you don’t own your own, skates can be rented for just $1. On Friday evening, the Grand Fireworks Extravaganza will light up the sky over the beautiful Grand River. Celebration on the Grand’s entertainment is free fun for the whole family to enjoy. Impressive jugglers, trampoline acrobats, illusionists, animal shows and magicians will take place at Ah-Nab-Awan Park (behind the Gerald R. Ford museum).

Then let loose on Saturday night as the legendary '80s rock band, Great White hits the stage. Get lost in the sounds of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" as you rock out on the streets of this year’s grand celebration. The festivities begin this Friday, so make sure that you don’t miss a beat.
