Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - The cooler weather I have been feeling prepares me for the transition to Fall. And with each change of season I find myself inspired to de-clutter and clean. Getting the chaos out of my cupboards and closets is gratifying for my mood and also inadvertently soothes my mind. So what about that? How does one de-clutter the mind? Starting with your surroundings is one way, but with all these thoughts and tasks racing around the mind perhaps we start there.

1. Anything weighing on you let it go by writing it down. Make a list, a list to do or list of goals. Write down how you feel now and how you would like to feel.

2. Close your eyes. Rubbing your palms together to create friction and heat and then cup the hands over the eyes. Breathe and relax. Let your mind become still with the sound of your breath.

3. Remove your Self from the space you are in. Take a walk, get out in nature without headphones or cell phone. The birds live in the moment, can you?

4. Come back to your list. How do you feel about it now? Ready to tackle it? Maybe some of the things on it seem less important now.

Once you set a practice to de-clutter, you will easier be able to see what things are actually important to your life and what you can eliminate. Now that feels good!
