Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - Experts agree that the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you take in. This means eating less and moving more.   So without resorting to fads or pills that may cause temporary results lets look at some tips to cause lasting change and results!

Often we feel hungry when we are actually thirsty- make it a general rule to drink a full glass of water prior to any meal.

Watch portion size.   At meals, find out what a “serving” actually is and eat just that.  It may be only ½ cup.   At snack times, use a small bowl for your snack rather than bringing out the whole bag.

Lastly, try eating more slowly.  It takes a certain amount of time for our stomach to register fullness to our brains.  Try placing your fork or spoon down between each bite.
