Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - I have love/hate relationship with painted furniture. On the one hand, it's everywhere. And many times the furniture piece itself maybe isn't worth the effort. On the other… I love the idea of rescuing some cool old thing that has good lines, is well made and is potentially a fab one-of-a-kind piece. Lots of times the finish on wood furniture is trashed or is dated but with a little painter's tape, a gorgeous color and a little time, painting is so easy!!
A way to make something really contemporary that is a bit different from all the painted stuff you see in antique shops is to try the cool DIY trend- the 'dipped' look. It's a perfect way to add a jolt of your favorite color to an old table or chair that has a decent finish and give it a really updated look. OR…you can always reverse the trend if the wood is in bad shape and just leave the wood grain on the legs. Depending on the piece, there are countless ways to modify this idea.
Check out these pics for some inspiration and remember that this could apply to anything you can paint… it's a colorful and inexpensive way to freshen things up for spring!
