Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - The scale of the room refers to the visual size and how furnishing look next together. I’ve got some tips on how to add depth to your room.

1. Create drama by varying the scale. If everything is the same size, nothing will stand out so mix it up!

2. Think beyond mirror images- objects on either size of the sofa or bed can be similar in scale rather than matching.   I've got a great example to show you how good this can look.  Just click on the video player to see how variety increase the visual interest of a room.

3. Consider visual weight. It matters as much as height. Even if chairs are the same height, a really thin one looks awkward beside a big upholstered one.
