Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - It’s the time of the year for trick-or-treating, admiring the colorful changes from a comfy chair, and hosting parties. Needless to say, Fall is a hot spot during the fall. So as it’s showcased this season, make sure you decorate it well. Here are some tips to keep in mind while decorating.
Choose Bold Colors-think reds, oranges, golds, browns, and dark greens. The colors on your front porch should complement the colors of nature during the season. Now is also the time to consider painting your front door to correspond with your fall décor. Choose a color that makes a great background to your seasonal decorations.
Choose creative pieces- Rather than choosing typical items from stores, look to antique shops for inspiration.
Transition décor for winter. Decorations like pine cones and berries transition well for the winter season ahead. If you display plain branches in a basket or vase for fall, you can spray them with white or gold paint for winter. Fall wreaths can also transition by adding berries or feathers.
Some great ideas for your porch include:
-Line one side of your steps with lanterns and pumpkins in different widths and heights.
-Make a wreath from branches and leaves to hang on your door
-Put a heavy blanket and some pillows on your porch chair or swing-stick with a fall color scheme.
-Fill a shallow rustic pot with pine cones, leaves, and covered nits and cinnamon sticks.
I would love to see photos of your front porch décor. Share your pictures on my facebook page!
