Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - Do you have reservations about putting hardwood flooring in your kitchen, bath, laundry room or a lower level that may be a little damp?

Do you think that ceramic tile or stone might be the answer, but it’s hard and cold and cracks?

If you answered YES, then you really need to check out the new vinyl, wood look planks and the ceramic tile or stone look products. Both products can be installed with a locking system or it can be directly glued down.

The planks come in the most popular styles and colors and in the five and six inch widths which are currently the most popular with the design community. They are soft under foot and when you see them on the floor you’re going to say “I can’t believe it’s not wood.”

The tile products are equally deceptive. If you want, you can even add grout to really confuse whoever is looking at it. You really just need to see if for yourself.

That’s the LOOKS part of the story. The MAINTENANCE is the other advantage of these products. Just sweep to get most of the dirt taken care of and then you can damp mop to get it really clean. The brand I was looking at has a 20 year warranty for residential use. It was also Floor Score certified, which means it meets strict indoor air quality guidelines, so it’s good for your home and your family.
My recommendation would be to stop into your favorite Interiors Store that has a huge flooring department with experts who can show you products and help you choose (that’s the hard part). I know I’ll hear you say, “I can’t believe it’s not….”
