GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The countdown is on to the 36th annual Fifth Third River Bank Run! In just a few weeks thousands will gather in downtown Grand Rapids to compete in the 5k, 10k and 25k runs. Some participants will be first timers and others seasoned professional, but they all have a common goal of making it to the finish line.
In 2008, Daniel Ruppert run his first Fifth Third River Bank Run 25k. Daniel made the decision to run three weeks before the race and his training had only consisted of a few short runs with his personal distance record of 7 miles. Somehow he managed to finish the race helping his friend cross the finish line as well. This inspired him to not only start his running journey, but to help others along the way.
Daniel's inspiring story struck a chord with the Fifth Third River Bank Run Committee, selecting him as a 2013 Road Warrior. As a Road Warrior, Daniel, has been training alongside runners of various abilities for the past three months and is helping him reach his goals while motivatingg his fellow runners in the process.
Daniel will be running this year's Fifth Third River Bank Run for Bethany Christian Services One Family Campaign. Learn more about Daniel's connection to the charity and how you can help support the cause by clicking here.
