Packing lunches everyday for your student can sometimes slump into the same old routine. Maranda visits Shari Steinbach at Meijer for some lunchtime meal ideas. From sweet to savory, these lunches will have your kids surprised at happy everyday and save you time with the simple preparation.
Instead of the traditional PB and J for your back to school lunches try something different and add a healthy twist. You can substitute the jam or jelly for fresh fruit and switch up the bread. Here are some simply and tasty ideas:
Waffle Sandwich – Toast 2 frozen whole grain waffles. Spread peanut butter on one and top with fresh strawberry slices. Top with other waffle and cut in half.
PB and Fruit Roll Up – Spread peanut butter on one side of a Meijer whole wheat tortilla and then add chopped fresh apple. Roll up and cut in half. Banana slices are delicious also!
PB Dippers – Make a delicious dip by mixing ½ cup peanut butter with 6 T. apple cider and cinnamon to taste. Choose your favorite fruits or veggies to dip.
