Mark Kistler will be live at Rosa Park Circle with Maranda, September 27 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. He'll host a FREE drawing lesson for families. Ferris State University will provide sketch paper and pencils.
ArtPrize is still happening until October 6. Check out all the family friendly locations like the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, and the Children’s Museum to get inspired and open your kids creativity.
Don't miss the Grand Rapids Children's Museum's Kids Art Fest on September 29 from noon until 5:00 p.m. There will be free outdoor events with art stations, artists, and performers, and more. Everyone is invited!
Despicable Me 2 is the free movie at Flick’s Family Film Festival starting September 27 through October 3. Admission is free for kids 12 and under, and only $4 for adults.
September 28 at Celebration Cinema North from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. join Maranda at Flick's Birthday Party! Free cupcakes, prizes and more!
September 27 through 29 is the High on Kalamazoo Balloon Fest held at the Air Zoo. There is no fee to attend. There will be balloon flight activity, a balloon glow, entertainment, a car show on Saturday ($10 to attend), and much more!
September 28 is free play in the parks. In honor of National Public Lands Day, admission to the country’s 401 national parks is free. To find a park near you go to nps.gov.
September 28 is Leaf Collection Day at the Howard Christensen Nature Center. For a $5 donation, collect the 75 different species of leaves at HCNC and win a cool prize! From 10 a.m. until noon, come out with the kids to enjoy nature.
September 28 is Scarecrows and Pumpkins at the Children’s Garden by Leila Arboretum Society. Make your very own scarecrow and take home a pumpkin as your child learns about fall harvest. This is also a free day at Kingman Museum!
September 28 is Granny’s Reading Corner at the Kingman Museum. Every fourth Saturday of the month, join Granny for fun and educational stories about the earth and universe. Granny reads from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
Otsego Fire Department will host a Fire Department Open House & City Creative Arts Festival on September 28 starting at 10:00 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m. Take a tour of the fire trucks and visit the smoke house for kids. Festival parade begins at 1:00 p.m. It takes place at 117 East Orleans Street
September 28 and 29 is the second annual Alpaca Day Expo. Starting at 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Scenic Sky Alpaca Farm, come feed baby alpacas, check out the store featuring all kinds of exquisite alpaca items, and more.
Fall Festival Weekends begin at Lewis Farm Market September 28 and 29. Music, rides, and entertainment. This weekend is the S’More Summer Festival.
The Muskegon Fire Department will celebrate its department’s 140th anniversary by holding a free Open House on September 29 from 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m at 770 Terrace Street in Muskegon. There will be demonstrations to teach children how and when to correctly Stop, Drop and Roll vs. Get Out and Stay Out, fire extinguisher demonstrations for adults, a vehicle extrication demonstration, local police cruiser, the Muskegon County 911 dispatch display, free fire prevention materials will be distributed to kids, a hose water spray station for younger children, and so much more!
