GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) - Gear up and get ready to Fondo. The Gran Fondo bike ride is June 29 in downtown Grand Rapids. Gran Fondo means 'big ride' in Italian, but the cause is much bigger than just a ride. Proceeds go toward skin cancer research at Michigan State University. Everyone is welcome from recreational riders to competitive cyclists. There is a 12 mile adult and family ride for children 12 and over and 40 or 80 mile loops for riders of all skill levels. Riders start and finish at The B.O.B with a scenic route to Lake Michigan in between.
Riders will receive a swag bag including a limited edition event t-shirt, free entry to Gears for Beers Microbrew & Music Festival hosted by The B.O.B, a post-ride Gran Buffet featuring fresh Michigan products and wine & beer sampling for those 21 and older, and secure bike parking during the post-event party. Riders who raise a minimum of $500 for MSU skin cancer research receive a commemorative event jersey and free registration.
Gran Fondo early packet pick up and final day for registration is at CRUSH in The B.O.B. June 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. . When you opt for early pick-up, you'll be ready Saturday morning for all the fun. June 28 is the last day for registration and online registration ends June 26.

Start Times: 40 and 80 mile rides: 8:00 a.m.
12 Mile Adult and Family Ride: 9:30 a.m.
All day events end at 5:00 p.m.
