GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - On Sunday, April 21, 2013, the four major downtown museums will open their doors free of admission. The Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids Children's Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum will partner together to welcome the community for free between the hours of Noon - 5 p.m.
The special occasion is possible due to the funding and support of Amway. In addition to underwriting the event, Amway also provides volunteers at each of the museums and also is providing family fun activities at the Amway tent, located outside on the Grand Rapids Art Museum's Wege Plaza.
When visiting a museum, each guest will receive a "passport." Each museum will have a stamp or sticker to mark off a visit and guests who collect all the stamps will receive a prize at the Amway tent. Prizes will vary based on the number of museum that you visit.
To make traveling from site to site convenient, there will be free trolleys running from Noon - 6 p.m. on Sunday, with stops at each museum location. For more information including directions to the museums, visit their individual websites below.
