GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - West Michigan Aviation Academy is a unique charter high school dedicated to providing the best education possible to a diverse student body. Students who attend, receive a strong focus on academics and aviation training, leaving the program prepared for college and the career world.
The school opened it's doors in the fall of 2010 in a renovated office building on the grounds of Gerald R. Ford International Airport. After two years in the original 25,000 square foot space, the school has expanded into a state of the art, 42,500 square foot facility with 245 students enrolled.
Students come from more than 35 different school districts throughout the West Michigan area, all seeking a rigorous educational program with an aviation focus. In June 2014, West Michigan Aviation Academy will honor it's first graduating class, letting students soar in more ways than one.
