GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan exists to provide a "home away from home" for families with children receiving medical treatment in West Michigan. Often times families come from around the state of Michigan for the top-notch medical care at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, or other medical facilities in Grand Rapids, with no place to stay.
The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan provides temporary housing, prepared meals and transportation for families at no cost. The organization is able to provide these services due to funding from McDonald's Corporation and donations from community members.
The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan is one of several charities selected as Fifth Third River Bank Run Charity Partners. 2013 Run Road Warrior, Daniela Garcia, was paired with the charity and is running on their behalf. Daniela has a special tie to the organization, having stayed at the house 23 years ago when her brother was injured in a car accident. Daniela and her family stayed six months at the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan and has vivid memories of the impact this facility had on her family's life.
Daniela and the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan are encouraging runners to join Team "Run for the Ron" on Saturday, May 11, 2013. You can get more information by emailing Daniela at email@example.com or by contacting the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan at www.rmhwesternmichigan.org
