GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) - The John Ball Zoo 's fundraising campaign to "Restore The Roar" is making huge strides in building a bigger and better zoo. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new tigers exhibit at John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids. The Amur tigers exhibit, Crawford Tigers of the Realm, will bring tigers back to the zoo after six-years.The exhibit will start with three tigers; two brothers and an unrelated female nestled in the Idema Forest.
There will be two tiger habitats included in the Crawford Tigers of the Realm exhibit at the John Ball Zoo . The first will open in summer 2014. The second habitat will open in summer 2015. When finished, the two habitats will be connected by a mesh-enclosed trail that parallels the visitor pathways, offering a view of the tigers as they travel from one habitat to another.
The winning school is announced in the Salvation Army Kettle Creation Contest.
