TUSCON, Ariz. (CNN/KOLD) - A set of triplets from Tucson, Ariz., decided to take a big step together.
They enlisted together in the Arizona Air National Guard.
A handshake from Col. Mick McGuire sealed the deal for the Aubuchon triplets. Christopher, Andrew and Adrianna are officially part of the 162nd Fighter Wing.
But rewind things about six months, and that's when the process started.
"It was both my brother and I, we kind of had a mutual thing about the military. Our dad and his friend, Alfredo, kind of introduced us to the idea about military – you know, get the discipline, get the experience," said Christopher. "We decided to go into it together. At first, my sister was kind of reluctant."
After a few months and a talk with her dad, Adrianna was ready to join her brothers. The triplets enlisted together in front of other guardsmen and their family.
"I thought we were all going to go our separate ways -- do our own thing," said Christopher. "I mean, this wasn't even a thought in any of our heads at all."
"They're going to great. They are great kids. They have never ever been troublemakers," said mom Sylvia Aubuchon. "I think this is a great fit for them. I am very proud."
It also seems to be a great fit for the 162nd. Christopher is going to avionics. Andrew will be in the nondestructive inspection work center, and Adrianna will go into the dental field.
For this one-of-a-kind enlistment, the commander was called in to be a part of the ceremony.
"I have not ever seen triplets enlist on the same day," said McGuire, a commander in the 162nd. "Their attitude about service and the idea of their duty to serve is something that is very admirable, reflects great on their family, the Tucson community and Empire High School."
