GRAND RAPIDS (Mich) WOTV - Sometimes we need to look behind us to provide a better vision of what lies ahead! This helpful tip can allow us to do just that in looking to find better ways to control spending. Find it difficult to record all the various items you've spent on each month to stick to your budget? Then try this alternative ... count the number of transactions you've made throughout the week rather than the total spent within each category of your spending plan.
It's fairly simple ... the more times you spend, the more money you spend. Reduce the number of transactions each week, and you'll be much more likely to reduce the total amount spent.
Look back at your transactions from just this past week. If your statement shows more than 20 transactions per week, your spending is most likely way too high. Having between 10 and 14 transactions is better, and between 5 and 9 is ideal! (Each transaction counts ... even that small trip through the drive thru for a coffee).
