Grand Rapids, Mich. (WOTV) - Tomorrow begins Movies in the Park at Ah-Nab-Awen Park! More than 3,300 people participated in an on-line poll which ran from July 8 – 12 to decide which movies would be shown on the big screen downtown. Participants of the poll selected three movies they wanted to have screened.
The first movie is scheduled to be shown on Friday, August 2, with the screening of The Princess Bride. Families can lay out blankets and bring snacks to enjoy throughout the movie. The top three movies and the dates that will be screened:
1) The Princess Bride (PG) – August 2, 2013
2) Back to the Future (PG) – August 16, 2013
3) Anchor Man (PG-13) – August 23, 2013
Steve Faber, Executive Director of Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, and a member of the Downtown Development Authority's Urban Recreation Task Force said, "Many of the options offered were movies that people of my generation are now showing to their children. Movies that we loved as kids," stated GR Now.
All three movies will be free to the public and shown at Ah-Nab-Awen Park. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and films will begin at dusk. Local vendors will be set up to provide food and popcorn, and movie goers will be able to bring their own alcohol.
