Woman's Life Chapters and the Kids' Food Basket joined forces to help address the child hunger epidemic in West Michigan through the Celebrity Purse Auction at Celebration Cinema North. Celebrities like Betsy DeVos and governor Snyder's wife donated purses for the cause.
Mary K Hoodhood, founder of the Kids' Food Basket, was in attendance and accepted a check on behalf of the Kids' Food Basket for $30,000 which will go to feed children who suffer from poverty in our community.
Kids' Food Basket currently serves 6-thousand kids at 32 schools in Grand Rapids and Muskegon to ensure that lunch is not the last meal of the day. This would not be possible without the 175 volunteers that serve at Kids' Food Basket every day. But there is still a need for volunteers. The organization is looking for volunteer drivers to donate 1-1.5 hours of their time to help drive lunches to local schools. For more information, and to become a driver contact Becca at Becca@kidsfoodbasket.org
