- Take the first step. Being your own best advocate begins with you! Dig deep and let your voice be heard or nominate someone from your personal team to be your advocate.
- Research. Push fear aside and dig deeper into the world wide web. Many of the articles that are available to your doctor are available to you. Print what you find and highlight key areas that sparked your interest.
- Share with your doctor. Take your findings to your doctor and come prepared with questions. They can help you sort through your findings and let you know how the information relates to your situation or why it doesn't.
