GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - The heat can leave us dehydrated. Far too often we mistake dehydration for a felling if hunger when we really just need a drink. I have a great idea for you to stay hydrated, healthy, save you some money AND help to curb your appetite! What can it be you ask? Balsamic vinegar!
Adding 3-5 tsp. of balsamic to your diet each day can provide you with the following health benefits –
Antioxidants - Antioxidants improve the immune system and protect you from harmful free radicals, which can damage cells in the body.
Antioxidants also help to protect against heart disease and cancer. Bioflavonoids also present in balsamic, helps fight immunity deficiencies.
It has antibacterial and antiviral properties.
Balsamic vinegar can suppress appetite and also improves digestion. This helps prevent overeating and assists the body with absorbing nutrients properly.
On top of all of this it's great for diabetics and even help to improve bone health.
So how can you get more of this awesomeness into your daily routine? Flavored water. Skip the artificially flavored store bought variety and make your own at home for pennies on the dollar. With one 12.5 oz. bottle of good balsamic you can make 75 drinks! You may use more or less per drink dependent on your tastes but I find about 3 tsp. per 8 oz. glass is perfect. Use plain water of sparkling for something more fun.
Here are 4 that are my personal favorites but with all of the flavors to choose from it's easy to be creative and adventure out on your own!
Sicilian Lemon and Lavender – Refreshing Summer favorite.
Golden Pineapple and Coconut – This one is both sweet and tasty.
Wild Blueberry – This one screams summer in Michigan. Throw in a couple fresh for a party.
Red Apple and Serrano Honey – Another great Pure Michigan blend.
Tuesday night has a seriously funny lineup on ABC! Check out what's in store for your favorite shows on WOTV4!
