GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOTV) - Looking to bring summer into your décor? I've got three simple ways to invite summer into your home.
1. Think of your home as a summer rental and you will see it in a new light. Throw open the doors and windows, pull back the curtains, and get rid of the pieces that are dark, gloomy, or fussy. Summer is all about light and airy.
2. Stow away heavy accessories, throws, or any unnecessary small accessories until it is time to cozy up in the fall. Change out heavy draperies and hang sheers that flow with the wind.
3. While a fireplace is a great focal point any other time of the year, consider rearranging your furniture away from that space for the summer months. Shift the focus of the room to a beautiful window or French doors.
Your enjoyment of your home is based on your emotions. If opening windows to hear nature makes you feel good, do it!
